ASPCA Legal Advocacy & Investigations

 Supporting Animal Cruelty Cases Across the United States The ASPCA’s Legal Advocacy & Investigations department provides investigative and legal subject matter expertise to law enforcement, animal control officers and prosecutors pursuing animal cruelty and animal fighting cases nationwide, with dedicated legal support for the New York City Police Department and District Attorney’s Offices handling these cases in New York City. Our team includes investigators, former prosecutors, and former criminal defense attorneys, who are here to assist you from initial investigations to the initial placement of rescued animals in homes. The department also connects agencies to other ASPCA resources integral to the success of animal cruelty cases, including experts in veterinary forensics, crime scene processing and animal behavior. In addition to case work, the team regularly conducts training and workshops for animal control agencies, law enforcement, prosecutors, veterinarians, and other animal welfare professionals, and deploys throughout the United States to provide on the ground support with search and seizure warrant operations.
